The SH417 High‑Temperature High‑Shear Tester is designed and manufactured to meet the technical requirements of ASTM D5481. It adopts the multi‑capillary viscometer method to determine the apparent viscosity of lubricating oils.
This instrument is used to measure the apparent viscosity (HTHS value) of lubricants under high‑temperature and high‑shear conditions. It also complies with SH/T 0703‑2001 *Test Method for Apparent Viscosity of Lubricating Oils (Multi‑Capillary Viscometer)* for evaluating the high‑temperature high‑shear performance of lubricating oils.
**Test Principle**
At a controlled test temperature of 150 ℃ ±0.1 ℃, the sample is driven by nitrogen pressure (CO₂ optional) to flow through the capillary viscometer. Based on sample flow‑through time and pressure readings, the apparent shear rate of the capillary is calculated. Combined with the calibration curve of each viscometer cell and the measured pressure value, the apparent viscosity of the test oil can be obtained.
